Digital Products and Licence Terms

These terms apply to paid digital workbooks purchased directly from Open Philosophy Library. By placing an order, you agree to the licence selected on the product page and at checkout.

Products, accounts and delivery
The products are downloadable PDF study workbooks. A customer account is required. After successful payment, protected download access is provided on the order-confirmation page, in My Account and by email. You are responsible for supplying a correct email address and using a device capable of opening standard PDF files.
Personal Use
A Personal Use licence permits the purchaser to download, store and print the workbook for personal study and use within one household.
- Five download attempts.
- Download access for 365 days from purchase.
- The downloaded copy may be kept and used permanently for personal study.
- No classroom distribution, resale, public upload, redistribution, alteration for republication, or inclusion in another product or service.
Classroom Use
A Classroom Use licence permits one named educator or institution to use the purchased workbook with one class of up to 35 students for 12 months from purchase.
- Five download attempts.
- Download access for 365 days from purchase.
- Complete digital or printed copies may be provided only to learners in the licensed class.
- A new licence is required after 12 months, for a different institution, or for more than 35 students unless written permission is obtained.
Account, password and download security
The purchaser must not share their Open Philosophy Library account, account email address, password or protected download link with another person. Personal-use purchasers must not share the PDF outside their household. Classroom licence holders may give permitted digital or printed copies to learners in the licensed class, but must not give learners or colleagues access to the purchaser’s website account.
Unusual download activity or suspected account sharing may be investigated. Open Philosophy Library may withdraw download access where there are reasonable grounds to believe that a licence has been materially breached.
Download access and licence duration
The 365-day download period is the time allowed to retrieve the purchased file; it is not the same as the permission to use it. A personal-use purchaser may keep and use a properly downloaded copy permanently. Classroom permission lasts for 12 months from purchase even if the file was downloaded earlier.
Ownership
The workbook design, study method, editorial writing, exercises, questions, argument maps and other original educational material remain the intellectual property of Open Philosophy Library. Purchasing a licence gives limited permission to use the product; it does not transfer ownership or copyright.
Immediate digital supply and cancellation
By accepting these terms at checkout, you expressly request immediate supply of the digital product after payment and acknowledge that your statutory cancellation right will be lost once downloading or immediate digital access begins. This does not limit your rights where digital content is faulty, misdescribed or not supplied as agreed.
Refunds and problems
Refunds and remedies are governed by our Refund and Returns Policy, which forms part of these terms. Contact us promptly if a download link fails or a file appears faulty or incomplete. Genuine technical problems can be handled without requiring customers to share account credentials.
Prices and payment
Prices are shown in pounds sterling. Payment is processed securely through the payment methods displayed at checkout. An order is accepted when payment succeeds and the order confirmation is issued.
Misuse and termination
The licence ends automatically if its terms are materially breached. Ending the licence does not remove any accrued rights or remedies. Suspected unauthorised redistribution may result in download access being withdrawn.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Consumers retain any mandatory rights that apply in the country where they live.
